I saw some eyes in the dark
Walking alone without a body mark
They looked left
And looked right
And looked straight
And looked through me
They watched with fright
One asked my role in the night
I shrinked in fear
And asked his peer
What are you? Eyes of the dark?
They started to laugh
And turned to south
“We love our lives
Just as they are
No mouth to feed
No stomach to churn
No nose to breathe
No ears to hear
No legs for tiredness
No backs to break
We watch and walk
With darkness our body
And sees its light
As it sponsors our travels
Humans hate change
But are burdens
You’ll always live lives
Feeding your burdens
While we watch the beauties of the dark and day”
I nodded in fright at their dark back and turedn back east
Like a crazy kite,
With speed I knew not existed within my legs.
