“Oh what a withered being”
I wasn’t, I once bloomed in many attractive colours
“Look, what a toothless mouth”
It wasn’t, I had a very beautiful set of chewers
“Oh Gosh! What a shivering body”
I wasn’t, I had the strength of an ox
And was revered by my peers
None could compare in my blooming
Even you would have been no competition
But time is time
So cruel in its discipline that it cheats not
Maybe that is its beauty
But this here, that you look down upon
Was once like you.
Don’t be disgusted
Don’t be rude
The sun shineth from the east to the west
Its shadow reaches all before it sets
In my disgusting mood, I have seen it all
The good, the bad and the ugly
And I still stand
Waiting to be handpicked by the axe of doom
So I wasn’t what you now see
In days past
So just look now and see your future.
