It’s a new day
That new air that finds a new way
And lives knowing there’ll sometimes be meandering routes and powdery clay
No matter the blockages in its way
Singing melodious tunes
In the faces of many hindrances but it finds ways to commune
With the trees and everything it meets at the slightest opportune
Even though most of them rightly impugn
It must be difficult not being able to rest even in the afternoon
All that it has is adjusting its tempo and with its neighbours attune
Yet it sings
Acknowledging the beauty of its habitat and its many wings
So the cow that knows it will end up in the saucepan also mows
The sheep that knows it’ll accompany the cow also baas
The chicken that goes earlier than them go boc, boc or cluck, cluck
And the birds that may be faced with many accidents chirp on end
There’s so much to be thankful for
For those who have the minds to work with
