TWISTED GRAMMAR POLICEMEN

You twisted grammar policemen
Who are living like second hand tongue twisters
Throwing tirrivees as you
Look on works of Shakespeare with contempt
Claiming the best of Harlem
…flaws
…based on your second hand tuition
I have news for you

II
Creators create
Copycats of Quirk and Greenbaum copy
…mostly ending up as flawed critics
…for they only see what has been written
…without knowing all aspects in the making of the written
What can a copycat add to an existing
…but colloquial taunts and repetitions?
Real knowledge seeks the voice of a creator
…before passing judgment
You can hate and bait
Creatives freeze you in your presence
Capture your past
And project your future
They’re the only gateways through which the future
…will know you

III
You twisted grammar policemen
Living in many dramas of rude corrections of righteous creations
…climbing past the respect of written licenses
Know near oblivion will be your portion
When breath leaves us at once
Only examinations will push some unprepared desperados to seek you
…and few will live in your shadows
But the future will seek Creatives looking for historic narratives
…and cultural norms
Because many a creative have shaped the world
…by mirroring societies
…and have, like some of the disciples of Jesus
…been lynched and fried
…forcing change
Change of a better today

IV
If you doubt these facts
Look at your lives
You’ve studied the Shakespeare you disdain
While posing as better intelligentsias
…forgetting languages evolve
…and languages are recarved to suit varying tongues
All the while knowing your thoughts
…are no breaks to stop the gods and goddesses of creativity
Did that hurt?

V
I pray you follow creators’ paths
By not forcing your artificial machetes on gardens and farms painstakingly created
For you’re no muse
…to a muse enthuse
And you’ll be no use
…if you abuse a muse in your confusion tagged intelligence
I hope you live to seek and treat to better you and others
And not to warn in your flawed horns
You do know your likes have flown on high grammatics
…and fallen from planes of low grammatics
…by piloting unpardonable mistakes?
Trust that language is naught without stories, drama and poetry
Great critics seek connotations if they find no fit in denotations

VII
So twisted grammar policemen
By all means live in your drama
See not this as your painting in karma
But as the correction of your poor corrections
He bears the stings
…who disturbs sleeping bees
Your words will always be semi tertiary
…to a Creator’s primary
…written in the annals of history
For the future has already stamped the victory of a remembrance
…of creativity
And no flawed criticism will change that

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)

Mum Cee, you’ve descended heavily without a pinch of mercy on the grammar policemen. It surely won’t go well with them.

I do pay attention to the grammar police. I am part of a few writer’s groups before the virus. I liked the writers who help you. I use less periods now. Because a kind man told me. Allow the words to flow unless the stop in the sentences is needed. I do need a editor. I want to publish my stories. I need someone to keep me in one tense. Hello my dear friend. I hope you doing well. Having some fun and being safe. Us, who love to write. Need hard skin. A lot of people can test us. Take the advice and move on.

There are trusted editors John. You just need to pick them out of the twisted grammar police. I have so many editors and gurus who help me with that because we are all bound to make mistakes here and there. I am published and have worked with many editors. Those themed in this are the ignoramuses who want to impose their words on your work even if you try telling them how intentional you were with yours. I am doing well, I hope you’re too?

Glad to hear you’re doing okay. The Corona cases are just horrible. My heart goes out to those affected. That notwithstanding, I’m optimistic we will be stronger with time. Be safe by observing the safety protocols. 🙏💙💙💙
