THIS FRESH MOTHERLESS CHILD

She is walking in the rain
And thinking herself basking in warm sun
She is floating on the happiness of pressure
Trying her best to write her tests
She is thinking of building a mansion for her mama
Once she makes it through her hard work
But fate has uprooted that dream
And family have blocked her knowing

II
An accident cost her healthy mother’s life
Religion forced a burial the next day
But her father couldn’t tell her
And her siblings’ mouths were padlocked
With threats that she’ll fail her exams
But I see the closure lost for torture
Can’t examinations be rewritten?
I bleed within
Knowing the emotional war waiting to evade her happiness

III
It sure is not in my place to say
Still, the deceptive sun covering her hovering dark
…kills me
It sure is not my duty to a messenger play
Still the lost hugs of her ever loving arms
…fills me with pity
It sure will not be my house which will see the display
Still I grieve for a studying mind waiting to be bombed by loss
Her hurts, frets and bitterness
…are what my third eye sees
My heart, for her, bleeds

IV
It was her right
Her right to close the door from whence she came!
It was her right
Her right to see off the pot which hatched her breath!
It was her right
Her right to wail for the soul of her beloved to well sail!
It was her right
Her right to see off the one heart she always finds comfort in
All her future burdens now lack a motherly touch
I bleed for her

V
So she greets in reverence
And I manage a sympathetic smile
Knowing her glow will be put out by this wrestling hurricane of sadness
…in few days
I wonder how she’ll fight this trauma
…as a teen

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)

Even as an old man, separated from her for 10years, spoke to her, the third day she is gone, got to hometown after two days to her fresh grave, courtesy an order from a despising Uncle. I have not mourned for years now, safe every thought of her is a mourning.
M’ma n’yaako.
