WHO I AM IN BLACKNESS

Who am I in the advocacies
Which are pushing us to climb another stair of success
…in this racial equality quest?
Who am I?

II
I sure am that girl who would’ve died in the disgusting slave hunt
For my pride couldn’t stand to be called a Cunt
And my ego couldn’t stand the horn of a don’t
…talk less of a mustn’t

IIb
I couldn’t have seen myself picking cotton
And acting the forgotten
In a land filled with minds rotten
Pretending to be some human mutton
I am certainly one who could’ve contributed to vanishing numbers
Or added to strangled spirits

II
I am that young lady
Who couldn’t stand the bites of penises of the shady
Talk less the whips of the crazy
Can you imagine me standing the taunts of the lazy?
I am one who could’ve contributed to the shot stubborns
And fed to anticipating sharks

III
I am that woman who could never have stood as foot
Watching as many “civilized” men, my beloved nation loot
While feeling the pains of their many a foot
I am certainly one who could’ve been strangled
And made an example to force similar mes to choose submission

IV
Even the debris of the struggle
Still haunt my heart
Even the hurts from the dead embers
…still torture my mind
Even the hatred from the filthily created
…still build monster thoughts in my mind
…calling for revenge against the self important derangeds
Who live very far from me
As my likes live on that battle front of racism, dying emotionally and physically

V
So in answering to who I am
I am nothing
But a privileged African
Raising my voice to the anger which is hanging dead
…my race
Some with or without traces
As faces of madness live above the sane
I am that voice aiming to send a reason
For those who live large on treason
To drive back to patriotism
So as to act lotuses in my habitational mud
I am just a nothing
…wanting to hold on to anything
…in order to achieve something
…to help add up to equalizing everything
…human
That is who I hope to be in your eyes
That is who I aspire to be in your lenses
Because that is who I am
Yes, that is just who I really am

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)
